I have had a similar model of Cuisinart food processor for about six years, and the blade recently broke off while in use, broke through the plastic container, and flew across the room. As a result of luck only, no one was in its path. Customer service had no real response; they suggested that I pay $20 to replace the broken parts.
An examination of the broken blade shows that this is likely to be a recurring problem with this model and any other Cuisinarts using a similar blade. It is clear that this structural failure is due to a lack of reinforcement of the blades at the point of riveting. The removal of material for the placement of the rivets, the thinness of the material, and the large amount of leverage placed upon the rivets by the longer blades led to the structural failure of the part. This failure could have happened at any time, and could have caused severe injury to the user. The tempering necessary to create blades that stay sharp is the same tempering that makes it impossible to have such thin, un-reinforced parts. The blades should either be made of thicker material, or have a wider section in the area of rivet contact to avoid failure.

I bought this as a christmas present for my mom, then I found out my dad has a large one so I kept it for myself! I've only used it a few times but it works well and saves me time while preparing meals and desserts. I also like the sleek design and it is very compact so it will fit in small spaces in the cabinets.

I chose this processor for our wedding registry - I ended up buying it myself. I saw it in person, so if you're just looking online, please realize that the "brushed steel" is just the color of the plastic body - it's very light weight. So 3.5 years later I had no complaints - usage was light - not even once a month. Then I started to prepare baby food when I noticed that the blade part had cracks in the plastic - and was discolored from food seeping into the cracked plastic. I ended up sterilizing it in boiling water and made the food anyway. It does work great for baby food! you just need a little liquid to get it to the fine puree stage. Now I need a replacement blade -left it too long in the sterilizing pot =(

I've been really happy with this so far. It chops my mire poix better than my old one did and it's a great size for me. But I'm only cooking for my girlfriend and me, it's great for small to medium sized chopping amounts, about 2 cups or so at a time. But if I were trying to make enough for say, a family of five, this obviously wouldn't cut it. You'd definitely need to go with the bigger models. I haven't tried making dough with it yet, but it is a little small so I can see it sticking some. Aside from that, the design is stylish, the chrome is good looking, and it just feels well made. So if you're someone who just needs small amounts of salsa, mire poix, other stuff chopped, go for this food processor. It's the best you can get at this price!

I wanted a mini that would chop/grind and looked at the 2 cup but am sooo happy I went with the 4 cup. The 2 cup would have been too small to be of any real use whereas the 4 cup fits perfectly between hand chopping smaller amounts and the 11 cup food processor. It takes virtually no space on the couner top so it will be readily available for use and it is very attractive. As others have noted it pulverizes onions; it also pulverizes walnuts which is a disappointment because I bake a lot and would love to be able to chop nuts with the mini. All in all, I would recommend this mini because it is powerful, both the bowl and overall size are perfect and it is easy to clean.
